Sheila Heydarova

Director of the museum

Heydarova Sheila Gachay gizi was born on 11.02.1955 in Baku. In 1973 she graduated from the Bulbul Secondary Special Music School (class of piano). In 1978 she graduated with the red diploma from the department of history theory of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory named after U. Hajibeyov and acquired the specialty of musicologist and teacher. After the graduation from the Azerbaijan State Conservatory she worked as a leading research fellow, a division head and a deputy director for scientific work in the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture in 1978—1998.

Made an important contribution to the creation and activity of the Azerbaijan first permanent exposition of the museum — “National Musical Instruments”. In 1993—2003 was a member and an executive secretary of the State Expert Commission for Musical Instruments. Since July, 1998, she has been the director of the home-museum of L. and M. Rostropovich. Author of the subject exposure project of the museum. Author of more than 10 articles, issued in Azerbaijan and world press, dedicated to the life and creative work of L. and M. Rostropovich. Since 1997 she has been the member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and its branch in Azerbaijan.

Makhbuba Abilova

Main keeper of the museum

Makhbuba Abilova Mamedali gizi was born on 04.05.1958 in Baku. She graduated from the secondary school № 53. In 1997 graduated by correspondence and with distinction from the department of museum business and protection of historical monuments of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts named after A. Huseynzadeh. Since 1993 has been working in the museum system. Worked in the Azerbaijan Carpet and People? s Applied Art Museum and in the State Museum of Agriculture. Since 1999 has been the main keeper of the home-museum of L. and M. Rostropovich.
