II hall
The second hall consists of three parts. The first one is dedicated to Mstislav Rostropovichs years of teenage and youth, the second part tells about his tours in Baku before hus immigration from the USSR and, finally, the third part tells about his family life.
In the first part of the exposition one can get acquainted with the materials, which pertain to the years of 1930 1940 of the past century. Here are presented the photographs of M. Rostropovich together with his sister Veronica, his first performance on the large concert stage. Besides, there are a series photographic materials, where M. Rostropovich is shown with the outstanding figures of music world such as D. Shostakovich, Ye. Mravinsky, S. Rikhter, S. Kozolupov and others that played enormous role in Rostropovichs formation as man, citizen and musician. Here it is also possible to see the well-known performer M. Rostropovichs rewards: 1 reward entrusted to Rostropovich in 1947 at the Festival of Democratic Youth in Prague, the Lenin prize, evidence of the promotion of Deserved and Peoples Artist of the RSFSR, Peoples Artist of the USSR and many others. In the second hall there are the padded jacket, in which a young 14 y. o. musician performed before wounded soldiers in military hospitals in the years of World War II
As was said above, the second part of the exposition of the hall narrates about the tours of Mstislav Rostropovich in Baku before his immigration from the USSR. There are the photo reports about the tours in 19711973 during the concert with pianist A. Dedyukhin and Azerbaijan Symphonic Orchestra under the administration of maestro Niyazi, and also photographs with the K. Karayev, A. Rzayev, F. Badalbeyli, R. Melik Aslanov, cellist S. Aliyev and other eminent figures of Azerbaijan music culture. Finally, in the third part there are the photographs of M. Rostropovich with the members of his family.
In 1955 a major event occurred in life of M. Rostropovich: he was introduced to the well-known operatic singer Galina Pavlovna Vishnevskaya. Not only the great love, but also a unity of creative views have united both of them. M. Rostropovich and G. Vishnevskaya got married the same year.
In the third part of the expotion there are the photographs of Mstislav Rostropovich with wife Galina Vishnevskaya, daughters Olga and Elena. One can also see the notes, books, vinyl disks and concert programs with the autograph of the musician during his tours in Baku.
