I hall
In the anteroom and the first hall there are demonstrated the objects, which were given to the museum as a gift from the family of Rostropovich. These are the antiquarian furniture, handmade carpet of the end of XIX beginning of XX century, mirror, letters, notes, manuscripts, books and other rare exhibits. The exposition of this hall reflects the period from 1925 to 1931 of the familys living in Baku. Professor Leopold Vitoldovich Rostropovich was one of the creators of stringed quartet of the Azerbaijan State Conservatory. He made his contribution to the development of Azerbaijan professional cello school. On March 27, 1927, son Mstislav was born in the family of Rostropovich. The atmosphere of music, which reigned in the house of Rostropoviches, excellent performing skills of L. Rostropovich (father) and Sofiya Nikolaevna Fedotova Rostropovich (mother) contributed to the development of special interest in music of little Mstislav. In the first room are exposed the photographs of L. Rostropovichs spouse, well-known pianist S. Fedotova Rostropovich, with her students, as well as their family photographs.
Among the exhibits represented here there are the letters of L.
Rostropovich to his close friend Uz. Gadzhibekov, prominent
Russian composer A. Glazunov, son Mstislav in 1942 on the
occasion of his birthday, notes and books from the personal
